Meet The Team
Who We Are
Foundation Church is overseen by a board of Elders, Alan & Heather Simpson, Tom Malone, and Bill Buchan. All four are the founders of Foundation Church. Tom led the direction of the church since it began in 2006. He stood down in 2021 for health reasons but continues to serve as an elder.
Tom Malone
Elder
Tom opens the Word of God in a new and living way with a prophetic edge. Tom has a passionate heart that seeks to win the lost and also to equip and strengthen the church. He has a quirky sense of humour and an unusual style opening the word of God in a contemporary and relevant way. Now retired, his background was in social work and he served five years as a local councillor. He has had two books published and is working on a third. He is married to Maggie with two children and two grandchildren.
Heather Simpson
Senior Elder
Heather leads Foundation church. She is an inspirational and passionate speaker with an eye for detail and carries prophetic insight. She is a tireless ambassador of the work of the Gospel both locally and across the north of Scotland. She also serves in leadership for Aglow International as part of the North of Scotland Area Team.
Prior to retiring in 2021, Heather worked for Aberdeenshire Council as Supported Unit Officer within the Homeless section. She is married to Alan and they have one daughter, one son and five grandchildren.
Alan Simpson
Elder
Alan is married to Heather and attends to the everyday running of the church including sound, vision and all things to do with technology. Alan's dedication and reliability are legendary, as is his humour.
Ever on the go, Alan is the man to get the job done and is helpful to everyone. Now retired Alan was a ships carpenter to trade; he also plays bass on the Inspire worship team.
Bill Buchan
Elder
Bill has the gift of helps, which includes stewardship and hospitality; he also operates richly and frequently in the prophetic, bringing insight and revelation which to-date have informed the journey of Foundation Church.
Now retired, Bill previously worked in the building trade. He has two daughters and four grandchildren.
